Read the exact product instructions
Hanging products are not interchangeable. Find the instructions for the exact hook and strip, including the intended environment and load. The manufacturer guidance for one strip should not be extended to a different product.
Check the surface
Identify paint, tile, metal, wallpaper or another finish. Look for loose paint, rough texture, moisture and recent repainting. Use only on surfaces permitted by the instructions. A small hidden test does not establish that every part of a wall will behave the same way.
Weigh the complete item
Include the frame, contents and anything that will hang from it. Check the rated load and permitted orientation. Do not combine several hooks to invent a higher rating unless the manufacturer explicitly allows that arrangement.
Plan preparation and waiting time
Use the cleaning method specified by the manufacturer. Some products require waiting after cleaning or attachment before loading. Do not substitute a convenient cleaner if it leaves a film or is unsuitable for the finish.
Plan for a dropped object
Keep fragile, valuable or hazardous objects away from places where a fixing failure could hurt someone. Avoid hanging above sleeping areas unless the exact system is designed for that use and its instructions support it. Wet or hot environments need their own rated products.
Read removal before installing
Check the release-tab access and the removal direction. Position the fixing so you can reach the tab later. Pulling a strip away from the wall instead of following its instructed path may damage the finish.
Keep permission and instructions
Read your lease and obtain approval where needed. Save the product instructions and photograph the condition before attachment. The words removable or damage-free on a label do not settle your particular lease obligations or guarantee a deposit outcome.
When to choose another option
If the surface or removal method is uncertain, use an existing hook, a suitable freestanding organiser or another product that meets the use instructions. It is easier to change the plan before installation than repair a damaged finish afterwards.
